Acocks Green and Kings Heath Compared

July 11th, 2009

Today we went to Kings Heath. We took some pictures. Here are some of them. You will find more on our ‘Improved Street Design’ page. Note, not Kensington, not Leamington, not even Solihull. Not Shared Space, no expensive makeover. Just Kings Heath. Another Birmingham City Council Outer Circle suburb, about three miles away, with a busy main road high street, of roughly similar vintage to Acocks Green. Is it so hard?

Kings Heath crossing - no barriers at all - no blood on the road!

Plant Display, Acocks Green style. Same Birmingham City Council brand green fibre glass containers, note. Various comments come to mind, but who, precisely, is this display for ... the motorists or the pedestrians/residents who seem required to admire, mainly, the back of the trough?

Note we have also changed our main picture of Acocks Green. We love our suburb really (well, most of the time … ). The Green in July is looking great. Pity about the rest!
